I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to be a Certified Health Coach. I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between.
My dream is to fortify my health coaching practice by becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and a Certified Diabetes Educator so I can significantly reduce the number of people with Type 2 Diabetes.
As a Certified Holistic Health Coach, my scope of practice is different from medical professionals like Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, Licensed Social Workers, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Physicians.
To be clear, I do not diagnose or prescribe a regime for clients, but rather partner, inspire and co-create health and lifestyle goals to live a happier and healthier life.
I respect these medical professionals and value their knowledge and experience. I believe working closely with them to help individuals minimize their health risks is the new model for preventative care.
To deepen my experience in public health, I enrolled at Baylor Scott & White - Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute's Community Health Workers Certification Program. It's a 160-hour program certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services. I am looking forward to supporting healthy communities in addition to my current clients!
I am a licensed Community Health Worker in Texas and trained to screen for A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol. Also, I am working as a Diabetes Peer at Baylor Scott and White Health and Wellness Center at the Juanita J. Craft Recreation Center.
